Mermaid Medical at CIRSE 2025: Innovation, Collaboration, and Inspiration in Barcelona

Once again, Mermaid Medical participated in the annual CIRSE Congress, taking place in Barcelona from September 13-17. The Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) gathers professionals from across the globe to showcase product launches, highlight industry innovations, and engage in inspiring discussions - all with the shared goal of advancing interventional radiology.

Among the products showcased at Mermaid Medical’s booth this year was the MaxBlate® ThyTip® Antenna for microwave ablation. Developed by Canyon Medical Inc., MaxBlate® treats both cancerous and benign tumors in organs such as the liver, kidneys, and lungs using microwaves for ablation. Studies indicate that microwave ablation may be more efficient than traditional thermal methods like radiofrequency ablation, offering benefits such as predictable ablation zones, strong performance in challenging tissues, and consistent results near blood vessels.

The collaboration between Mermaid Medical and Canyon Medical Inc. is built on a shared commitment to safe, efficient, and minimally invasive cancer treatments. Events like CIRSE provide a valuable opportunity to connect in person and explore future opportunities together.

During the congress, we had the pleasure of meeting many inspiring and talented professionals. Another highlight for our team was the chance to connect with colleagues from our various global offices. As an international company, face-to-face meetings are rare, and time spent together in Barcelona was invaluable.
